How To Set Your Marketing Goals

You can't achieve a goal if you don't even have it spelled out.

So, in the words of Ryan Gosling in The Notebook, "What do you want?"

What is your goal?

This isn't some nebulous vague concept.  It is very simple: What do you want? Are you trying to get established as a content creator and just want tons of followers and views? Are you trying to showcase your work as a creative? Are you just looking to connect with people? Are you hoping to get more sales?  Are you looking to get more orders?  Do you want people to take you seriously as a professional and have your page serve as a portfolio?  What types of people do you want to connect with and where are you going to find those people?

All of these things can help define where you're going to start with your marketing.

Do you need a website?  Or do you need to go to in person events?  Do you need both?  Do you need Social Media?  Do you need to do print advertisements?  Do you need to do email mailings?  Do you need to join networking groups?

Where should you start?

The majority of your energy should be focused in what is going to be the most effective, and that isn't what an influencer or guru who has never met you says as part of their own marketing to get you to buy their services or like/follow them.

The first thing you need to figure out is what your end goal is.  It isn't the same for everyone.  And it isn't always about the views and followers.  People with under 10k followers can have amazing sales, without going viral and never having millions of views.  And people can have a reel go viral with millions of views and barely gain more followers.

Figure out your goal, for your business or brand, and go from there once you have that defined for yourself!
