How Do You Manage Marketing During The Holidays?
The holidays can be some of the most hectic times or the slowest times, depending on your industry.
For some, planning holiday promotions months in advance, and reaching out and promoting services and products leading up to the holidays can help prevent a slump, or help spike sales during an already busy period.
What are some ways you can keep yourself from getting overwhelmed managing your content during the holiday season while still having time for yourself and your friends and your family?
Set A Timer.
It might seem like a silly thing, but regulating the amount of time you’re spending on a task can help you focus on getting it done within that window. And if you’re doing something like scrolling Social Media for ideas or inspiration or just to help with engagement on your account, setting a timer can help to keep you from falling into the abyss of the feed which never ends.
Compartmentalize Your Schedule.
As a small business owner, it is really easy to feel like everything is falling on you to be done by you at every minute of every day and it all has to be done at once. It can be very overwhelming or leave you wondering where to start.
Setting a time aside that you’re designating to work on your marketing can help because when you’re stressing about it you can just tell yourself that you’re going to do it at time x, and you can worry about it then. Remember, worry is like a rocking chair: it might pass the time but it doesn’t get you anywhere!
You can’t do everything at once, and that’s OK. Set the time you can do things and focus on them during those times.
Plan Ahead.
While the holiday season is upon us at the writing of this blog, it is still about a month until the end of the year. That means you still have some time to plan for most major winter holidays. Spend some time putting together what you want to post or share during the holiday season, take a day or a few hours and put some content together that can help with either promotion, or planning for time off and space.
Not every holiday season has to be about a sale, but your clients and customers should know if you’re not going to be available during a part of a holiday season.
In a perfect world, being able to go into the holidays with a plan and a carved out schedule can help make everything a lot smoother.
While this world is far from perfect, just do your best with it. And if you miss a day or don’t make a post or forget to promote something, just say “OK” to yourself, and continue with your life. You can’t change the past, but you can keep working towards having a smoother future!
