Can You Change The Algorithm’s Response To Your Content?

The last blog was about how TikTok was trying to send a message for me to to post something else by slowing choking out the views until the reels posted hit literally ZERO views.

Out of curiosity, I wondered if human interaction could override it.

The short answer? Yes.

About 5 people went and engaged with the posts and the views of the previously not moving content jumped up to about 50-100 views per reel (including the 0 view ones).

The takeaway? You can move the views and how much your content is seen by having friends (or your team) go to the page and engage with the content.

Now, I have heard that this was possible over the years, and there have also been notes that doing this too much can result in the views being seen as fake and eventually they don’t get as much traction. But it is one way to start to get your content out there.

You could make a network of friends and/or fellow business owners who just go and engage on each other’s content to help push it out to more people as one way to get a little boost.

For sure a way to get your content out there is to pay to boost posts.

The other way is to create content specifically for the platform, doing the things that the platform is supporting at the time of posting, taking down content that isn’t performing and replacing it with content which is performing.

The other other takeaway? Don’t treat Social Media as the magic bean that will bring you all the wonderful things. Unless it is worth your time and resources to go coordinate people interacting with your content, and possibly connecting with their content in exchange, focus on the things that will best support your business.

Remember to also use things like email marketing, going to networking groups and local events to meet people and connect, use fliers and business cards, use magazine ads and other print ads, sponsor local schools and non-profits, show up for other people and build a network that is a true network where you support others and they support you.

And when you do use Social Media, use it intentionally. Be creative about how to get your content out there, if you want to have a greater chance of being pushed widely to other accounts then stay up on trends, use tools like collaborations with other accounts, be engaging and engage with others (answer comments and messages quickly), post to stories, and try to post content at least three times a week.
